Catalase is an enzyme that breaks down hydrogen peroxide into oxygen and water. Along with superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase, it is the first line of defence of the body against damages caused by free radicals. It is an iron-containing enzyme and one of the naturally found antioxidants in the body.
Catalase is found in bovine liver, peas, corn, mango, grapes, mushroom, sugar cane, and honey.
Potential Benefits of Catalase:
- Antioxidant activity.
- Helps lower LDL cholesterol level.
- May reduce risk of developing diabetes type II.
- May have a protective effect against graying hairs.
Catalase is best taken 20 mcg per day.
