Formerly known as track and field, athletics is among the most popular sports throughout the world because of its simplicity, lack of a need for special facilities, and using inexpensive equipment. It is considered as the “mother of all sports”. Athletics includes 24 events in men and 23 events in women. They are categorized into three groups: track events, field events, and combined events.
